Katya Somisen’s artistic practice oscillates around the deconstruction of the human figure, treated as a vessel for affects and the afterimages of memory. Her painting - deeply rooted in the rigor of minimalist form - foregoes literal representation in favor of exploring the tensions between physical presence and ontological fragility.

Formally trained in photography and and possessing a profound background in music as a composer, singwriter and pianist, Somisen employs a unique, interdisciplinary methodology. She approaches the canvas through a synesthetic lens; her brushwork is rhythmic and structural, building compositions on the principles of chromatic polyphony. Rather than merely "illustrating" emotion, Somisen constructs visual scores of internal psychological processes, where each gesture serves as a carrier of material truth.

Her work has been presented in international contexts, including Amsterdam and Paris (The Holy Art Gallery, 2024), and Warsaw/France (R2oT Gallery, 2025). Somisen’s practice has been the subject of critical analysis in leading cultural publications such as VOGUE, LABEL Magazine, and Elle Decoration, which highlight her distinctive visual language that bridges raw texture with profound humanistic sensitivity.
